A downloadable mod

What It Is:

This is a modular mod that reimagines the GTW illnesses and includes optional, simple add-ons for your sim's health. The components of the mod are customizable to the experience you wish your Sims to have in game. It was designed for both rotational players and those players who want just a bit more realism than GTW, but don't want the massive health systems of the other health mods out there.

That said, if like me, you do have other health mods, this only changes how GTW illnesses behave and you won't get any custom or game illnesses at the same time (note custom illnesses at the time only include those from Healthcare Redux and Private Practice).

***If you have Healthcare Redux installed, use only the Core files; you will not be able to use the modules from this mod. They are only designed to work if you do not use HCR.***

It additionally was meant to address health mod issues inherent for rotational players, i.e. your Sims will get sick at roughly the same rate they do with just GTW and illnesses will progress off lot if your sim is not currently played.

How it works:

This mod is modular meaning there's a core mod file and then optional modules. GTW is required but you do not technically have to install the illness module. Choose the core module and any add-ons desired.

Modules Available: Allergies, Illness, Injury, Pregnancy, Death Disabler.

Note: Patients for the doctor career will still get sick when spawning for that career event. However, this mod does not infect NPCs so you won't have a bunch of sims running around sick all the time. If you play a different household and your sim has a deadly illness, they will not die. Additionally, your sims may have a natural temporary immunity to one of the deadly diseases when loaded. You can disable deadly diseases with an optional disable package. You can also purchase a Strong Immune System reward trait.

The mod activates either at the end of the school/work day or after your sim has slept for the night or has talked to someone so if you don't have all the options please make note of that.

Allergy Module - Requires Seasons or Bust the Dust or EcoLiving

Allergies requires either Seasons, Bust the Dust, or Eco Living.

Your sim has a chance to develop an allergy symptom under the following situations: Spring/Summer, being outdoors, being in a dusty environment, or being in an industrial environment.

Your sim may get an Allergy shot to temporarily prevent these circumstantial allergies.

Illness Module -GTW

Illnesses require Get to Work

Getting Sick

Your sims will still contract the GTW illnesses the same way they used to - through other sims who have the illness and a chance they get after coming home from work, school, and when they wake up in the morning.

To prevent getting sick, you can purchase the Strong Immune System reward trait. To lessen the chance of your sim getting sick, you can either take vitamins from Healthcare Redux or get vaccinated against the deadly diseases. Vaccinations are not permanent, however. After getting sick, your sim will have a temporary immunity from all illnesses in the mod.

What Happens When Sick

Your Sim's illness now progresses in three stages over the course of the illness (similar to getting poisoned or rabid rodent fever). Over the course of each stage, your Sim will receive a buff that tells you what your sims have (i.e this buff is from Llama Flu).

If your sim has a non-deadly illness, they will start out in the most severe stage of the illness and will progressively get better. If your sim has a deadly illness, they will start out in the mildest stage of their illness and progressively get worse.

As you get better, your sim will be notified as to the progress of their recovery. As they get worse, the buffs will get stronger and your sim will be urged to attend to their illness.

As you get better, your sim will be notified as to the progress of their recovery. As they get worse, the buffs will get stronger and your sim will be urged to attend to their illness.

Deadly illnesses last 3 days. Non-deadly illnesses last 1.5 days. You will also receive symptom buffs that will occur on occasion throughout your sim's illness.

There is a chance your deadly illness could improve on its own, but that's rare. Note that for NPCs they won't die of this illness on their own. Deadly illnesses will result in your sim dying of their disease if you do not take your Sim to visit the doctor.

Treating Illness

Home Remedies

For most non-deadly illnesses, they must simply run their course. You can treat these symptoms with rest (naps and sleep) as well as home remedies like orange juice and lemon-ginger tea.

Medication

You can treat these symptoms with medication.  Medication is only available if you have a symptom that medicine treats.

Medication will not only decrease the length of symptoms (by about 50%) but will also block that specific symptom from repeating during the medicine's effective time period.  Medication also has a chance to marginally decrease the length of your sim's illness.

Doctor Visit

In addition to medication, rest, and home remedies, your sim may go visit the doctor. Deadly illness require your sim to visit the doctor, but for non-deadly illnesses (with the exception of Itchy Plumbob) a visit to the doctor is optional. Your will not get better on their own and will only get progressively worse until they die.

A new menu called "SimHealth" will appear on the phone under the Household menu. The doctor will give advice on proper treatment for your illness whether that means rest and home remedies, medication, a shot while at the office, or surgery.

Injury Module - BG

Injuries only require Base Game

Your sim, if you choose, can injure themselves while exercising/fitness activities. This applies to children-elders. There's a small chance that while engaging in such activities, an injury is incurred. This happens more to sims with low fitness, clumsy sims, elders, etc. and less to sims who are more fit and healthier.

There's a chance that your sim can seriously injure themselves and thus require a trip to the Sports Injury Center. There doctors can determine if your sim needs further treatment such as a cast or surgery.

Pregnancy Module - BG

Pregnancy module only requires Base Game.

If your Sim gets pregnant, you may choose to have your sim attend prenatal appointments. They can get valuable advice about their pregnancy and can have the gender revealed, if desired. They can only go one time per trimester.

Additionally, your Sim can attend a postpartum checkup after birth. The Sim can also experience postpartum pain. Finally, new Sim parents can experience baby blues following the birth of a new baby.

Compatibility

Required Packs - Base Game and Get to Work are required.

Recommended - Bust the Dust, Eco Living, or Seasons needed for Allergy module.

Compatibility Notes

HealthCare Redux - This will not conflict with Healthcare Redux, but know that if you have HCR installed, all add-on modules from this mod but the Death Disabler will be disabled as HCR and it's modules will take precedence. Thus this mod's modules are only designed for players who do not use HCR at all. If you use HCR, use its modules.

Private Practice - You can use them both together *as long as this mod is listed alphabetically above Private Practice in your mods folder* otherwise PP will conflict and prevent this mod's illnesses from working.

Bienchen Less Illness - This mod is NOT compatible.

Nies' Cooler Sickness will not technically conflict but it is made moot as this mod bypasses GTW illnesses for active Sims but it will still work on NPCs.

***I didn't find any other conflicts/compatibility issues, but if you do since your mod folder is inevitably different from mine and you've narrowed it down with 50/50, let me know!***

Credits: Thanks so much to ChippedSim for the reward trait, route event, casts, and medications!
